Parts of Speech Review. A Noun is a person, place, thing, or idea. A Verb is a word that shows action or being. Adjectives are words that describe nouns or pronouns. They tell which one, what kind, or how many. Adverbs are words that describe verbs. Many, but not all adverbs end in –ly.
