What is an iPad? • Tablet Computer • Marketed by Apple • Has touch screen • Can access movies, music, as well as books, etc. • Can get a variety of apps • Has many accessories now, including a wireless keyboard
Dibels • Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. • It monitors kids in K- Third grade in Reading. • Each grade is monitored at the BOY and depending on their results get a light. Red and yellow lights mean they need progress monitored. • Green means that they are where they should be at during that time.
Dibels cont. • Students who need progress monitored are supposed to be tested every two weeks. • All students are monitored three times a year. (BOY, MOY, and EOY) • This information can be used to help when referring students for special services.
Third Grade Dibels • Students read a passage to the teacher in a minute. This is to test fluency and accuracy. • Benchmark and Progress Monitoring follow same format.
Retell • Students are asked to retell what they read in a minute. • After 3 seconds, of no response, they are prompted to continue. • If after 5 seconds of no response time is up.
Booklets • Students are asked to read a passage from the assessment booklet. They are only given a minute. • Three times a year the Benchmark book is used. Every two weeks we are to Progress Monitor.
Part 2 for Benchmark Assessment • Given at BOY, MOY, and EOY. • All students take this part. • For this part, they are given three minutes to read and circle the correct answers. • How to score Number of correct responses- incorrect responses divided by 2. (Ex.10 – 2/ 5 = 2) • Minimum score you can have is 0. There are no negative numbers.
