Jay’s Treaty of 1794 • Chief of Justice John Jay sent to Britain to negotiate • Treaty Provisions • GB promised to evacuate posts • GB consented to pay damages, but did not pledge future stopping of seizures or impressments • Debts from Revolutionary War must be repaid to GB • GB can continue fur trade
