What is HazlewoodExemption? The Hazlewood Act provides eligible Texas Veterans with an exemption from the payment of tuition, dues, fees, and other required charges for up to 150 semester credit hours. Certain fees may not be exempt under this program. Note: Active duty servicemembers who have previously been issued a DD-214 may be eligible for Hazlewood Exemption.
Eligibility • At the time of entry into the Armed Forces: • Was a Texas Resident, • Designated Texas as their home of record, OR • Entered the service in Texas. • 2. Served 181 days active duty, excluding training • 3. Honorably discharged or general discharge under honorable conditions • 4. Not eligible to receive federal education benefits dedicated to tuition and fees • 5. Not on default of state guaranteed student loan • 6. Enrolled in eligible program at public institution • 7. First time recipients beginning Fall 2011 must reside in Texas
