Funding That Made 5 Year Surface Treatment Program Possible in thousands • *Program being revisited
Fiscal Year 05-06 • Overlay (approx. 2 miles) $400,000* • Chip seal (approx. 60 miles) $1,250,000 Total $1,650,000** * Assume $1,755,000 from Measure H continues with portion ($.5 million) being used to fund core maintenance program. ** Overlay work to be funded by possible $400,000 from RSTP competitive grant; requiring 10% match.
Recommendations Going Forward • Support reinstatement of Proposition 42 funding. • Support timely reauthorization of Federal Highway Act. • Support reauthorization of the Secure Rural School and Community Self Determination Act (Federal Forest Revenue stabilization). • Support CAO’s recommendation on General Fund contribution to Transportation (Measure H related). • Explore sales tax measure for Transportation. • Many California counties are “self help” counties with sales tax dedicated to transportation. • Local funds leverage other State and Federal funds.
