2. Long ago,the panda was snowy white all over. Almost every day, Panda would see Chameleon, Toucan, and his best friend Frog. “Look how beautiful my different colors are,” boasted Chameleon when Panda passed by. Page 1

3. Then Panda stopped to chat with Toucan for a while. “Ah, what a glorious day it is!” said Toucan, “The sun, the plants, and the animals are all so gorgeous and colorful today.” Page 2

4. Panda frowned, ”Oh Toucan, your beak, Chameleon, and all of the other animals are all so colorful, and I am white. I wish I could be more than just white. At least two colors, like pink and white or blue and white. I would even like black and white instead of plain white.” Page 3

5. Just then, Panda’s best friend Frog leaped out of the trees and on to a rock. “And what are we talking about on this fine day?” asked Frog. Toucan replied, “Panda is complaining again about being white.” “Oh cheer up Panda,” said Frog, but Panda was already halfway down the road. Page 4

6. Once he got home, Panda sat under a tree near his tree house and cried until dusk. When he looked up in the sky, the only thing he saw was the North Star, shining and glowing like it never had before. Page 5
