Continuance Making Satisfactory Progress • Circumstances where a student can continue study or is placed on probation or suspension • Applies to ALL students who enroll in graduate courses • Provides the minimum standards for students. Some degree programs have higher standards. • Applies immediately. There is no practice run, all courses count in the cumulative GPA calculation. • Records are reviewed at the end of each semester. Those who have not maintained a 3.00 GPA will be placed on probation.
Student Status • Degree Seeking: students who have been formally admitted into a degree program. • Non-degree: students who have not been formally admitted into a degree program and students who have been permitted to pursue a certificate or licensure program.
CONTINUANCE rules for Graduate Students • All graduate students are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 • Degree seeking students have 12 credits from the time they fall below a 3.00 GPA to return to good academic standing. • Non degree students have 6 credits from the time they fall below a 3.00 GPA to return to good academic standing. • If the GPA is not attained within the allotted time the student will be suspended.
Helpful Hints • Consult regularly with your Graduate Program Director (GPD). • Take responsibility for monitoring your own academic progress. • Do NOT wait until it is too late. Seek assistance early if you are having trouble. • Consider withdrawing from a class but do not walk away. • Read and understand the policies in the Graduate Catalog.
