  1. Communications Alert INTI COLLEGE HONOURED FOR EXPORT ACHIEVEMENT IN EDUCATION On Tuesday, March 11, 2003, the United States Department of Commerce presented INTI College with the Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Trade. The award was presented in recognition of INTI College’s successful effort to increase trade between the United States and Malaysia. The Certificate of Appreciation of Achievement for Trade recognizes foreign business partners, trade associations, U.S. government agencies, and other qualified recipients, for supporting U.S. export development and creating opportunities for U.S. businesses through trade. The award is a landmark achievement, as it reinstates the College’s effort in promoting US education since 1986. INTI features the largest American Degree Programme (ADP) in Malaysia, enrolling more than 900 ADP students. Her Excellency Marie T.Huhtala, United States Ambassador to Malaysia, expressed delight that INTI has been extremely active in promoting U.S. education in Malaysia over the past 16 years, contributing significantly to U.S. exports and Commercial Service (CS) KL’s success stories. “If we consider the average export value per student to be $12,000 per year, INTI’s contribution to U.S. exports would be a sizeable $84 million,” she noted. INTI has been supportive of Commercial Service events and programs in Malaysia, and has encouraged students to attend the CS’s annual Study USA Fair for the past three years. INTI also participated in the CS KL-led delegation to the NAFSA Education Conference in Philadelphia, in May 2001, and provided six interns to assist Commercial Specialists in their projects. INTI College is the first higher learning institution in the country to be recognized for its multinational cooperation via academic collaboration. The award reflects the College’s longstanding commitment in establishing and enhancing strategic partnerships with a host of universities in the United States. Y Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Haji Abdul Majid bin Ismail accepted the award on behalf of INTI College. COMMUNICATIONS ALERT updates staff on the latest happenings within INTI.
