The Briefcase My project is about a mysterious briefcase being passed around in different locations, remaining unopened until the end.
Synopsis The briefcase will be handed around to different people, the camera follows where it's going and who it's going to. The storyline will be accompanied by western music to make the of the briefcase seem exciting. Media Format Short film/ music video
Target Audience I am making this for people who like Quintin Tarentino/ westerns in general. They'd be interested in my project because I will recreate cliché western scenes such as the long distant "show down". I would also use typical western music and have a cliff hanger as the ending. Genre I wouldn’t use any dialogue for this project as id want to focus on the visual aspect of the filming. However, I may add idents to the characters facial expressions but that’s just a rough idea. The main genre of my project would be western.
Concept Crew - Again, id cast my friends to star in my project • My main influence would be films like Fantastic Mr. fox or Django where the use of western music adds drama to what the audience is being shown. Location – there would be several locations where the briefcase gets passed around, purely to show the journey that it goes on, I feel like it would build up the audiences anticipation about what's inside it Costumes – I'd have to talk with my friends and find out what clothes they have in their wardrobe. Ideally id want them all to dress as cowboys but the likely hood of that happening I is very slim, instead, plaid could be a good alternative or even just normal clothing. I'll have to research this area in greater depth Props – a Briefcase, lightbulb (for a glowing affect), a wanted poster ? Equipment – Camera and tripod
Where is your project set? • I was thinking about having the "show down" scene on a beach or a deserted area where the sun would be setting in the distance. The briefcase gets passed around in different locations around town to show the journey that it goes through just to reach the last person. The subject of my literature review would be about Quintin Tarrentino's style of filming/ how the music adds tension to his movies. I will review western movies and take note on specific angle shots the camera uses, to make it as cliché as possible. My practitioners will either be Wez Anderson or Quintin Tarrentino I will experiment on shot types to confirm how I wish to shoot the briefcase being handed from person to person. I will also test which areas suit the theme of music and what the characters are wearing.
