  27. TDM Emulation over PSN ATM and TDM Pseudo Wire (PW) over Packet Switched Network (PSN) Using DSL Access The need: • Clear dynamic of moving from ATM networks to Packet Switched networks (PSN) • There is a need to take legacy traffic as TDM and ATM over the PSN network. This is commonly done using PW technology and tunneling the traffic over the PSN Implementation Concept • When using DSL access there is a need to start these PW in the CLE because Most DSLAMs do not support PW • Two implementation phases • Working with IP DSLAMs providing Ethernet interface towards the network and keeping ATM based DSL towards the customer • Working with IP DSLAMs providing Ethernet interfaces both towards the network and towards the customer

  28. Now in trials Leased Lines Emulation over IP/ATM/DSL Customer Premises Customer Premises PBX • CESoPSN or TDMoIP tunneling solution • On the receive side the jitter buffer store the payload prior to play-out to the local TDM attachment circuit. The size of this buffer should be locally configurable to allow accommodation to the PSN-specific packet delay variation. • Clock recovery is based on NTR DSLAM DSLAM E1 LA-110 LA-110 E1 PSN Eth/IP/MPLS SHDSL SHDSL PBX Eth Eth GbE TDMoIP Gateway IPmux Gmux TDM CO/POP

  29. 2G BSC TDM over PSN Using DSL Access – 2G Transport over PSN IP-DSLAM Gmux-2000 Channelized STM-1 Or nxE1 PSN Eth/IP/MPLS 2G BTS • E1 TDM traffic from the 2G BTS is encapsulates it as data and tunneled it towards the BSC as TDM PW • The Gmux-2000 terminates the TDM PW and hands the TDM traffic to the BSC • Clock synchronization based on NTR • Same solution can be used for Leased Line over PSN using DSL access LA-110 GbE GbE E1 TDM SHDSL ATM TDM TDMoPSNoAAL5oATMoSHDSL TDMoPSN TDM

  30. 3G RNC ATM over PSN Using DSL Access – 3G Transport over PSN 3G Node B LA-110 ACE-3200 ACE-3400 IP-DSLAM ATM UNI STM-1 E1 ATM xDSL • E1 ATM or ATM IMA traffic from the 3G NodeB is encapsulates it as data and tunneled it towards the RNC as ATM PW • ATM over PSN (ATMoPSN) tunneling solution based on IETF “draft-ietf-pwe3-atm-encap-06” • An ATM VP connection is tunneled into a unique ATM PW and carried over the PSN network • The ACE terminates the ATM PW and hands the ATM traffic to the RNC • Clock synchronization based on NTR PSN Eth/IP/MPLS ATM GbE GbE nSHDSL E1s ATM IMA IMA 3G Node B LA-130 DSL Bonding ATM ATMoPSNoAAL5oATMoSHDSL ATMoPSN ATM
