The standardization activities on NGN in CCSA are progressing smoothly. Except referring to the relevant specifications or drafts issued by international SDOs, CCSA also works on building some specifications based on requirements from China market. Strategic Direction Continue to develop specifications of NGN in CCSA While “Convergence” has been a marked trend, CCSA will pay attention to its influence on current and new specifications, not only FMC, but also the convergence of telecom network and internet, the convergence of legacy telecom services with content-based services, and so on. Develop and motivate the research in new technical domains Improve the specifications related to “Unified IMS” Develop the specifications related to “Ubiquitous Network” N-ID, IDM aspect Future Network etc.
Strategic Direction(2) Research on new solutions, such as PTDN, Future internet. Develop specifications related to EC, security protection, and ICT(Energy Saver and Exhaust Reducer ) in NGN scope Continue coordination and collaboration, take part in the relevant activities and meetings, establish smooth relationship with other SDOs Share CCSA view Being involved and give contributions
Challenges Convergence of different networks, applications & services, etc. Ubiquitous services Requirements of users, span over different terminals, different access technologies, different networks, different industries, etc. The scope of NGN is being enlarged. Mobility Management Service assurance QoS assurance Security, etc. New techniques emerge over time, and their combination with NGN, (e.g. P2P, Grid, Mash UP, Widget.) need to be considered Information processing-related capabilities are becoming important, and has introduce many challenges on developing relevant standardizations Social responsibilities Environment Disable people Emergency communication and security, etc
Next Steps/Actions Continue to develop NGN-related specifications Unified IMS, API, UC, IDM, EC, ICT, security, Home Network, etc. Initiate some new research items , based on new trends and new technique, some HISs are probably as following: NID/IDM IMS based P2P application Framework of future network Ubiquitous Network service Network aspect research Split of identifier and location, etc. Continue to work cooperatively with external organizations
