Studley’s Fundraising Goal: $15,000 Studley’s Total Raised: $23,985
In what has become an annual community initiative for firm’s Los Angeles offices, 55 Studley real estate advisors, staff, clients, and their families, rallied for Multiple Sclerosis.
The firm’s community involvement efforts have truly become family affairs.
Team Studley was led by Stacy Wilder (left), managing director, of the firm’s Project Management Services for the Los Angeles region. Wilder, a Southern California MS Society board member, became involved with the cause after her cousin was diagnosed with the debilitating disease. “Studley applauds and supports Stacy’s involvement with the MS Society,” Mark Sullivan, executive vice president and Southern California regional manager, says. “She is a great example to all of us in how to make time in our busy lives for extremely worthwhile charitable endeavors.”
MS FACTS: Your Dollars at Work • The National MS Society directs 78 cents out of every dollar raised to support local programs and research. • In 2006, the National MS Society was able to invest over $42 million into over 350 new and ongoing MS research projects • 2006 saw the Southern California Chapter provide much needed services to more than 12,500 people living with MS and their families, including college scholarships for eight high school seniors. These students are diverse in many ways, but all share something in common: each has a parent with MS and has spent most of his/her childhood accommodating the disease.
The $23,785 raised by Studley eclipsed last year’s effort of $16,172. Studley again ranked in the top 10 of corporate fundraisers participating in the event.
Studley-Wilder’s philanthropic efforts received recognition in the California Real Estate Journal’s, “The Human Side of Commercial Real Estate” column. Studley Walking for a Cure After raising more than $16,000 last year for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's annual fundraiser walk, Stacy Wilder's personal goal was to raise $15,000 for this year's walk on April 22, held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Wilder, who is the managing director of project management services for Studley's Los Angeles office, led a group of 40 Studley employees last year to raise $16,500. The money raised goes to help people who suffer from multiple sclerosis. The MS Society was founded with the goal of helping to fund research to find the cause and cure of the disease as well as offer services to those living with MS, which affects the central nervous system. Symptoms can range anywhere from mild numbess to paralysis. "To wake up each morning and not be able to get out of bed or hold your child – it makes you want to help," Wilder said. Last year alone, the annual fundraiser raised $1.9 million, surpassing its $1.5 million goal.
A FINAL NOTE Nearly 9,000 people gathered at eleven walk sites across Southern California to make a difference in the lives of 400,000 Americans living with MS. The National MS Society thanks each and every individual that committed their time and efforts to raise funds and awareness. The MS Walk is perched to reach its goal of raising $2.5 million.
