  3. GM-Free network: Garantee a regular supply for quality agricultures. Get a clear vision of the non-GM soy market Avoid speculation on non-GM soy. Demonstrate a regional action capacity. Take part to the Global debate & market. Brasilian operators: Get a better view of the situation in Europe. Identify partners. Study a fair price. Show there’s a market. Contribute to the local debate on GMOs. Goals of the mission:seeking a win-win strategy

Results:Overall • Réception by: • 2 ministers, Mrs Silva & Mr Furlan, • 4 State secretaries, • 2 States (Paranà & Goias), • 2 Boss unions, • 5 Farmers’ Unions inc Landless peasants Mvt, • 8 NGOs • 1 private & 1 cooperative firms. • Signature of M.O.U. with: • 1 State (Paranà) • 1 Boss Union (Goias) • 3 farmers’ Union (Paranà, M.G. do Sul, Goias) • 1 MST

Conclusions • In Brazil as in Europe « a battle has been lost » now the debate is around coexistence. • Terms of the debate are similar. • It will be more and more difficult to find GM-free soy at fair price. • BUT • Brazilians undestand there’s a sustainable demand for non-GM soy. • Political & commercial opportunity to maintain non-GM soy potential. • The technical background for non-GM garantee is OK.
