IST Call 3 Proposals consist of two parts • Part A A1 - Proposal summary (one form per proposal) A2 - Details of participants (one form per participant) A3 - Financial breakdown (one form per proposal) • Part B Text document with supporting tables, written to a pre-determined structure, describing the proposed project Proposals must be submitted electronically Part B must be in PDF
Electronic Proposal Submission System Online preparation with online submission • Proposal coordinator registers for the EPSS on the IST call page to get passwords for himself and his partners • They write their proposal in a shared space on the EPSS computer • When complete, the coordinator presses the “submit” button to submit the proposal • They can continue to improve the proposal, resubmitting each time up to close of call Online preparation is recommended
Electronic Proposal Submission System Offline preparation with online submission • Proposal coordinator registers to download the EPTool and forms package. Also a password for himself (needed later) • He writes the proposal on his PC, with the help of his partners • When complete, the coordinator packages and submits the proposal electronically, using his password • They can continue to improve the proposal, resubmitting each time up to close of call
EPSS – Errors and problems • Registering for the wrong call Register for FP6-2004-IST-3 ! • Registering for the wrong instrument • Mixing online and offline preparation If you make a mistake on call, instrument or preparation mode: Re-register! • Virus infected files • Providing excessively long files • Providing a Part B as other than a .pdf file • (Online) Failing to press the “submit” button • (Offline) Leaving submission to the last minute
Preparing a proposal in IST 1. Contact your NCP 2. Build your consortium, write your proposal • Proposals for objectives not included in the call are rejected • Proposals for instruments not included in the call are rejected • Proposals without an eligible consortium are rejected 3. Download the IST Guidance notes for evaluators for the call • Ask experienced colleagues to evaluate your proposal, using exactly the rules and forms we give to our evaluators • Then re-edit your proposal according to their recommendations ! 4. Submit your proposal on time • At the call deadline the submission window will close! • So submit several days early, then update very day *
IST Call 3 Handicaps • Wrong instrument chosen • Not conforming to required Part B contents, length • Unfocused project, diverse aims • Lack of excellence • One-man SSAs • Training mafias • “General” IST meetings and trainings • Grand schemes Strong proposals • Partners who are in the country and in the business • Starting fast, delivering results quickly
