PROVING GOD AT HIS WORDS 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 By Pastor Rod Almosara
HOW DOES GOD TALK TO US? • God Speaks Through the Bible. “The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in our lives.” 2 Tim. 3:16
v. 17, “so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Have you proven God with His promises? • We can prove Him at His Words. • We remember Abraham, the father of faith. He and Sara his wife were passed their age when God promised him that he will be the father of many nations. He might have doubted but God’s word and promises to him was true. In due time it was realized.
We can prove God at His Words: • In our salvation • God promised to forgive us if we acknowledge, confess and repent of our sins. • Repentance is a godly sorrow for sin, conversion to God, and renunciation of sin.
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10: 9-10
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19
He promised to justify us by faith through His blood. • “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” Romans 5:1-2a
He promised to regenerate us. Give us the born again experience. • “He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generally through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by grace, we mightbecome heirs having hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:5-7
“Therefore, If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.” 2 Cor. 2:17
He promised to sanctify us. Make us holy. • Sanctification is the second and definite work of God’s grace through the blood of Jesus Christ in faith whereby we are made holy. • “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14
“And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.” Hebrew 13:12
“For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren. Hebrews 2:11
He promised to give us the Holy Spirit. • “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
He promised to heal us when we are sick in spirit or in body. • “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
What else do we need to prove God at His Words? • He is the God who suffered and died for us. • And after three days rose from the dead. • And ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God. • He promised that He will be back for us. • That we may be where He is.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.“In my Father’s house are many mansions;” if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3
We need to take God at His Words. • “In the last days, God says, I will pour my Spirit on all people. • Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, • Your old men will dream dreams. • Even on my servants, both men and women • I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.” Acts 2:17-18
Peter replied, • “Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. • The promise if for you and your children and for all who are far off- for all whom the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39
