  1. Civil Engineer Jonathon Wojt February 10th, 2014 4th hour Career Technical Foundation

  2. Introduction • “The road to success is always under construction” • Get it right….CIVIL ENGINEERS • My uncle Mark is into engineering and he is really good at what he does. He can do anything from building to electrical. He has taught me so much and I like doing those things with him so in my near future I want to be a civil engineer. • In order to get a better understanding of my career as a civil engineer, I will be researching the nature of the work, working conditions, training, qualifications, advancement, job outlook/employments, earnings, and a related occupation.

  3. Nature of Work • Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects • Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis • Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations • Perform or oversee soil testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations • Test building materials, such as concrete, asphalt, or steel, for use in particular projects

  4. Working Conditions • Civil engineers generally work indoors in offices. However, they sometimes spend time outdoors at construction sites so they can monitor operations or solve problems at the site. Occasionally, civil engineers travel abroad to work on large engineering projects in other countries.

  5. Training, Qualification, Advancement • Bachelors Degree • Central Michigan University • high school classes: building renovation and draw/design

  6. Job Outlook/Employment • The job is rising. • I will work just about anywhere. • it will rise 20% in 10 years.

  7. Earnings • Civil engineering, $79,470 • 1.) 4 plus baths, 6 plus rooms, 4 car garage, swimming pool $300,000 plus • 2.) Ford f250 turbo diesel, lifted, 35inch mud tires $75,000 • 3.) Welsh corgi $1200

  8. Environmental Engineer Environmental engineers use things such as engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They are involved in ways to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.

  9. Summary After researching this career I still want to go into this career. One thing I enjoy about this career is that you work outdoor and everything is hands on. One thing I don’t enjoy about this job is it involves sitting behind a computer sometimes.
