RC-Yanbu Solar Energy Initiatives Renewable Energy Status for Saudi Arabia • Saudi’s solar thermal energy of up to 2,550 KWH per m2 per year (twice the average solar irradiation in Europe). • KA-CARE wasEstablished in 2010 to develop a future sustainable alternative energy in the Kingdom. • Aim to meet % of Saudi Arabia’s energy needs from renewable energy by 2020. • KACST is building a 30,000 m3/day solar-powered seawater desalination plant in Al-Kharfji. • PTC (PolysiliconTechnology Company) is building a 7,500 tons per year high-quality polysilicon plant in Jubail. • IDEA Polysilicon Company project in Yanbu to produce 10,000 tons/year polysilicon, 20 million wafers & 19 million solar cells per year. • Saudi Aramco is building a 10 MW photovoltaic solar carport system in the Dhahran office complex. • SEC has launched a solar power plant of an annual production of 864,000 KWH per year on Farasan Island.

RC-Yanbu Solar Energy Initiatives RC Yanbu’s Major Initiatives • IDEA PolysiliconCompany project under design (SR 2.8 billion investment) to produce 10,000 tons/year polysilicon, 20 million wafers & 19 million solar cells per year. • Hydrogen gas network to capture hydrogen from industrial processes and purify to yield a 19.4% energy savings for industrial users. • Upgrade RC-Yanbu Facilities for LEEDcertification. • Activate citywide Smart Solar Application Program. • Provide Green building demonstration for the public .
