  3. Rank of Armenia in Global Competitiveness Report • According to the Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014, released by the World Economic Forum. Armenia is ranked 79thamong 148 countries. • In 2012-2013 – rank 82th.

  5. Goal of proposed research • Identify the needs of industry • Prepare background for developing a national industrial development concept • Categorize the industry via a set of parameters

  6. Description of parameters • Historical perspective • The size of the company • Type of activity • Export volume and potential, markets. • Management technologies • Technologies involved • Problems experienced (logistical, transportation, legislation related, marketing, environmental, etc.)

  7. Outcomes • Development of Armenian industrial information database, • Creation of charts for each category to give the most complete picture of the Armenia’s industry. • Analysis of trends and correlations,identification of general problems and recommended actions.

  8. Main implementing organizations • Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA) • American University of Armenia (AUA), department of Industrial Engineering Partners • Other business associations, chambers of commerce

  9. Financing and project details • RUEA: contributed by staff, organization of research, office and equipment • AUA: students and alumni • International and local donors Preliminary total budget: 130,000 USD Project duration: 18 months
