Educational Vision By Shawna graff for Dr. Susan Shaw-EDU 505
Achieve3000 • Began as an innovative company to reach students 2-12 online. • Assists more than 1 million students nationwide. • Has branched to reach adult learners and L2 learners of English. • Has branched into interdisciplinary studies. • The products lines include:
Proven to Achieve • Case studies show success. • Falls in line with success rates of online learning and preparedness for the future. • Students are engaged with gamification and MOOC concepts. • Students learn and succeed through diverse implementation: • Home • School • Library wwwAchieve3000.com (2013)
Future of the organization • To accommodate full spectrum needs and learning modalities through the use of email interaction, and individual progress dashboards. • Incorporate through the use of major email providers, and to integrate the use of international learning as a standard in the corporate catalogue.
Current Situation • Currently this organization is servicing school districts across the country. • Reaches students that range from k-adult. • Complies with federal education testing regulations of the Lexile reading mandates. • Services ELL students through email and gamification.
Goals of Achieve3000 • The next five years are crucial to expansion of the product: • The goal is to incorporate their technology to adapt to tablets and mobile devices. • Promoting and continue the incorporation of ELL programs.
Achieving to look ahead • These goals are estimations of what could be, and to adequately assist and educate the public. • The future will be dependent on a few factors: • Economy • Need • Educational Policy • Barring any hindrances, Achieve3000 should be able to move ahead, reaching masses in a way that incorporates technology and promotes independent learning at any time.
Futuring • The future of education is moving in the direction of MOOC’s and use of mobile and tablet devices for on-the-go/just-in-time learning. • Technique to track how new changes can be incorporated, or to propose their effectiveness is through Scanning. • Trends help to identify how new technology can be used, and what will be needed for that technology to be successful. (Papa, 2011)
Scanning • Using Scanning to track successes of a new technology. • To incorporate new information and collaborative ideas. • Catalogues proposed technology for use in specific areas. (Example of a Scanning Document)
Proposal for a future educational setting-2018 • Students will gain most content based instruction through the use of mobile and tablet devices. • Registration and attendance for grades k-12 will skyrocket for online education. • Textbooks will become scarce if present at all for certain areas (considering economics a factor). • Topics will be app based with devices. • Teachers will be remote. • Low income areas will maintain status quo-remain as they are now.
Learning online Classrooms will possess the same learning modalities and tenets, but will no longer require physical attendance. www.k12.com
Future students Trends • Future students will use mobile/tablet devices in order to gain content knowledge. • Email and web-based learning will be primary means of communication and lessons. www.k12.com
Future teachers • Teacher will have to be more cognizant of technology, its applications, and how to leverage the use to accommodate a mass number of students. • MOOC’s will need to be regulated as opposed to teachers setting schedules. • The primary learning time will integrate with collegiate education as students find interests quicker. • Skill sets and problem solving will be increased due to the technical traversing and mastering.
Overall outcomes • The projection for the future of education is that students will have quicker and richer information. • Learners will be able to cut out unnecessary work to target mastery content. • Higher level of comprehension will develop due to the lack of politics and wasted time in a brick and mortar environment. • Lower income school districts have the potential of suffering the most. • Lack of funds to streamline their educational programs
