Long Term Goal To enable the students to integrate History & Geography with the 21st century tools so they can apply their learning in the practical life with an interesting and exciting manner.
Short Term Goals • More student centered classes will be arranged to increase the level of responsibility and team work among students. • Video documentaries and historical movies will be shown to students so they may learn in an interesting way along with the knowledge of 21st century tools. • More high level thinking questionnaires will be set to develop high level thinking in students.
Use of Bloom’s Taxonomy and 21st century approaches Creating The students will be able to recall , restate and remember learnt information. The students will grasp the meaning of information by interpreting and translating what has been learnt. The students will make use of information in a new situation from the one in which it was learnt. The students will break learned information into its parts to best understand that information is an attempt to identify evidence for a conclusion The students will make decisions based on in-depth reflection, criticism and assessment. Timeline Students will start preparing , saving and sharing their notes online Students will get in practice of working in groups and share information electronically Students will successfully learn to integrate 21st century tools into their regular studies Students will understand the role of 21st century tools in regular study September October November December January February March Students will get familiar with teaching through latest IT tools Video documentaries will be prepared and will be shown to student to learn in an exciting and interesting manner Other teachers within the subjects will be involved to share their teaching methodologies and peer observations will be conducted
Subject Topics Taught Topic Name: Tourism Industry 21st Century approaches used: Multimedia Presentation, Pictorial display 21st Century skills developed: Bloom’s Taxonomy, research work, Using latest IT tools Problems: Time constraining, discipline quandary Solutions: Hobby period will be consumed, exciting & eye catching presentation to get attention
Application of Bloom’s Taxonomy Remembering: The students were provided with the instructions to design a complete question of History from the given topics as per CIE pattern and then present it. Understanding: The students started discussing the topics which they understood during the execution of instructions. Applying: The students begun to collect information from the available resources and design a new question as per CIE pattern. Analyzing: The students begun to collect information from the available resources and design a new question as per CIE pattern. Evaluating: The designed questions were criticized among the group members to Finalize the question to present in front of the class. Creating: The students in different groups created new questions from the given topic and presented in front of the class.
Solution to anticipated challenges Solutions Challenges • Unavailability of multimedia facility every time. • Unforeseen holidays. • Electricity problem. • Time consuming to design new presentations and documentaries. • I will inform my head in advance to ensure the availability. • I will plan my topics in a way that unforeseen holidays should not suffer me much. • Though generator is installed in campus but I will upload the presentation on youtubeas well so students may see it later. • I will do the work at home or after school.
