  2. Hmmm! What if. . . • God’s Power emerges at the intersection of our surrender and His glory.

Powerful GOD-alities. • He is Powerful • Job 12:13ff • 13 "To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. 14 What he tears down cannot be rebuilt; the man he imprisons cannot be released. 15 If he holds back the waters, there is drought; if he lets them loose, they devastate the land.

  4. Powerful GOD-alities. • He is Powerful • Ps 68:34-35 • 34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies. • 35 You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. • Praise be to God!

  5. Powerful GOD-alities. • He is Powerful • 1 Chron 29:11-13 • Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. • 12 Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. • 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, 7 to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.

  11. Powerful GOD-alities. • God’s power and His glory are connected. • These are all power statements, but notice what God says next. • 8 "I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.

  12. Powerful GOD-alities. • God’s power and His glory are connected. • So what does that say about our motives when we come seeking his powerful intervention in our lives?

  13. Powerful Realities • Our Heart matters in seeking His power. • Ps 147:5-6 • 5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. • 6 The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

Powerful Realities • Our Heart matters in seeking His power. • 2 Cor 12:9-10 • Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Powerful Realities • We don’t understand it sometimes. • Eph 1:18-23 • 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Powerful Realities • Experiencing his power changes us. • Ps 63:1-4 • . . . 2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

  18. Final Reality • Surrender Required • Ps 68:28 Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before. • 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
