Today 37 million Americans are considered to be living in poverty • 1 in 6 children do not get there basic needs met. • Children living in a single female household are twice as likely to live in poverty.
Poverty by Region • The South has the highest rate at 14.0 % • The West has 12.6% • The Midwest has 11.4% • The Northeast has the lowest at 11.3%
Poverty today still affects many people in the United States today. • January is “Poverty in America Awareness Month”.
