Federal Fellowships: Proposal Submitted • Normally submitted as an external proposal from the business office to sponsored programs preaward. • Proposal reviewed and Submitted to the Federal sponsor. • Student is sent the award by the Federal Sponsor and asked to accept award
Federal Fellowships: Proposal Submitted (continued) • Business Office can process Form 90 and attach student award and acceptance. • Sponsored programs Fellowship Account Manager will follow up on receipt of the award to Purdue
Process for Federal Fellowships submitted by the student • Federal fellowships where the students submit an application for the federal fellowship (i.e. the NDSEG, SMART, and NSF GSRP.) The notification of the Fellowships comes from the sponsor to Sponsored Programs after the student accepts the award.
Process for Federal Fellowships submitted by the student (continued) • Business Office must contact the student to receive his award paperwork and his acceptance information. Business office processes Form 90 • Business Office notifies preaward of the need for an internal proposal following the internal proposal procedure.
Non-Federal External Fellowships submitted by the student or faculty Who needs to know about these Fellowships? • Business Office • Needs the detail of the award, to submit to SPS preaward for the internal proposal • Sponsored Programs • PreAward – Prepares an internal proposal • SPS Industrial Contracting • Reviews and signs contract if there is one.
Non-Federal External Fellowships submitted by the student or faculty (continued) • SPS Fellowship Account Manager • Sets up and manages award • Reviews the Form 90 for correct sponsor information • Invoices the sponsor • Collects monies due Purdue
Endowed Fellowships • Endowed Fellowships cannot be administered as assistantships.
