Extremely hot (during day) • Can reach up to 113 degrees Fahrenheit • Atmosphere contains little humidity which does not block sun rays during day> extremely high temperatures • Loose twice as much heat at night as humid regions • Receive less than 10 inches of Rain per year • High winds which causes sand to move Climate

  6. Very little vegetation and animal life • Ground-hugging shrubs, short woody trees • cacti • Nocturnal carnivorous animals Plants and Animals

  8. Ability to survive on little water and conserve water • Plants have little leaves and those leaves are small and thick in order to conserve water Animal and Plant Adaptations

  9. Driving SUV across sand • Leave tracks in sand • Cause erosion • Kill the little vegetation there already is • Oil and gas production • Nuclear waste put into deserts Human Impact
