Use PowerPoint (PPT) for Web-based Learning Create Step-by-Step Instructions & put on website: • As regular PPT file (student must have PowerPoint installed on their computer. Slow Downloading) • As an “htm” (the webpage file is accessible with Internet Browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape. Slow Downloading) • As a “Streaming Video” file(Use Impactica to convert & it is Fast Downloading over Internet). Any browser will run this file. Animation is limited.
Build Your Vocabulary • Slides- Screen for presentation viewing • Slideshow - Series of slides, full screen • Transition - Visuals & sounds between slides • Slide Sorter -Thumbnail view of slides • Template - Predetermined slide formats

Adding New Slide Click: [Insert] [New Slide] or New Slide Icon • Choose the type of slide& layout from this groupTitle Slide, Text & Title, etc.
To Run Presentation • Click: • [View] [Slide Show] or • Icon Movie Screen @Bottom left or • F5on Keyboard
Different Views in PowerPoint Normal view (building slide) Slide Show (Runs Show) Slide Sorter (Sort, Delete, move, & slides)
Inserting Graphics Type graphic needed& click [Go] • Click: • [Insert] [Picture] • [Clipart] Locate the graphic & click on it. Resize by grabbing handles or Locate file & Click [Insert] • [Insert] [Picture] • [From File]
Insert Movies or Sounds Click: [Insert] [Movies & Sounds] Locate File & Click [OK]
Adding Transitions Click: [Slide Show] Choose: Transition (what happens between slides) Speed Sound, if any Advance (either on click or automatic/timed) [Apply to All Slides] or if left unchecked applies to the slide you are working on [Slide Transitions] Transitions Options Box appears
Adding Animations Click: [Slide Show] [Custom Animation] To Animate, Click on the itemon list or Click item itself To Add Effect, Click The 4 animation options are on next slide

Tips for More Effective Presentations • Use 2 or 3 Colors, but don’t overdo it. • Use Simple Animation for Text/picture Entry • Do not put too much information on a slide • Link all animations for 1 topic together & slow it down • Slow Animation - so the slowest reader can finish. • List after List is boring!!!!!
