Part 1 Praying for Renewal!
Psalm 28:7 (NLT) The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving
Psalm 85:6-7 (NLT) Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, O Lord and grant us your salvation.
What Revival is Not! Revival is not a set of church meetings Revival is not a crusade. Revival is not church growth.
The very word Revival implies that something is alive, but is about to die.
The word revival means; Restoration to life, consciousness, vigor or strength An awakening The act of reviving The state of being revived
"Revival is experienced when God visits His people to awaken them spiritually."
Acts 3:19 "Repent then and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out and that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."
When revival comes how will you know? God’s people will have a new passion for prayer and for worship God’s people are going to have a renewed passion for God’s Word God’s people will desire to come to church. God’s people will begin to confess God’s people will change God’s people will have an increased burden for the lost and an emphasis on evangelism
Prone to wonder Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart take and seal it, Seal it for thy courts above. -Robert Robertson “Come thou fount of many blessings”
Revival is Needed 1. We need revival because we leak.
Revelation 2:4 “you do a lot of good things, a lot of things I admire, but there is one thing wrong, you don’t love me as you did at first.”
Revival is Needed 2. We need revival because we neglect our love relationship with God.
Jeremiah 2:2 "I remember the devotion of your youth, how as a bride you loved me…"
How can we know that we need revival? Prayer is no longer a vital part of your life. You have grown content with your Biblical understanding and you don’t hunger anymore. The gatherings of God’s people are not anticipated. Spiritual discussions embarrass you. Certain sins can be indulged in your life and it doesn’t bother your conscience. You can easily mouth songs and scriptures and nothing happens in your heart.
How can we know that we need revival? 7. You can hear God and his standards mocked with no indignation. 8. You can listen to, read and watch morally degrading material in the name of entertainment. Divisions and quarrels in the fellowship don’t bother you. Injustice and human misery almost never cross your mind. The lostness of people without Christ never crosses your mind.
How can we know that we need revival? 12. Never think about or sense God’s presence in your life. 13. That strong desire just to praise the Lord almost never wells up in your heart.
Revival is not changing behavior, but falling back in love with God.
In order to experience Revival in the church, we need; Humility Seek his face Turn from their wicked ways
