In simple terms our ‘Green’ means: • “working to meet the needs of the present without • compromising the needs of the future, but with deeds NOT words”
The Green Accord • So - What is it?
The Green Accord is a “green” accreditation to evidence and promote how organisations work in a sustainable way it provides a facility to contribute to saving the planet by simple practical deeds NOT words a proven accreditation scheme that provides companies with a focus to achieve real cost savings it demonstrates company’s corporate social responsibility and can improve business worth
Clients – free environmental accreditation for all supply chains Suppliers – adoption of green working practices that brings cost savings and business opportunity Who can use the Green Accord ?
How does the Green Accord work? The Green Accord accreditation is awarded by a tiered system of grading that enables companies to obtain recognition applicable to their level of achievement The accreditation system is thereby inclusive, achievable by all sizes of company and encourages continuous improvement
How does the Green Accord work? • The Green Accord seeks by practical steps to: • Save supplier’s energy costs • Reduce supplier’s waste • Encourage recycling so reducing supplier’s land fill costs • Source more materials locally saving transport costs

Online Support • The online self assessment provides: • specific industry wide web based guidance for each requirement • clear guidance of how to meet the audit requirement and supply the correct evidence for each requirement ticked
Training Support Practical training to help achieve Green Accord requirements is currently provided by our partners Envirowise and Global Action Plan, including support to obtain an EMS such as BS8555 or ISO14001

The Green Accord – So Far • Well – The success of the Green Accord initiative means: • Exeter City Council will not in future allow companies on their select • lists who do not possess the accreditation
