What do we do? • Provide information and advice on independent living issues for disabled people in Walsall
What do we do? • Offer quality training courses to up skill disabled people living in Walsall in an exclusive and supportive learning environment
What’s happening to CIL? • The CIL is moving away from the Council and becoming a Charity. • Will work in partnership with the Council.
Why? • User Lead Organisation – more disabled people involved in leading the Centre.
Funding • We’ll attract more funding – money to do projects.
More freedom • Independent from the Council – lead by Disabled people • Greater involvment from Disabled people • LDPB Website – gets higher priority
Why use the CIL? • Good IT provision - over 20 computers 13 public use 3 stay with Council • Plenty of space – to train people and time and a workstation to develop • Experience of working with disabled people
How can the CIL do it? • CIL will be trained in Website design by WebEnable • We will learn about the website • We will learn how it works • We will learn how to make it better – videos, photos, sound. • Get constant support from WebEnable • 12 days per year updating the site
CIL, LDPB and the future • The CIL already provides training to disabled people in IT skills including Ent L2, Ent L3, CLAIT and CLAIT Plus. • Would involve/employ disabled people maintain the site – gathering information and keeping it interesting and up to date
Do it for others! This could lead to the making websites for other Partnership Boards and Organisations in the community.
