Learning Objectives1. DEVELOPMENTAL NORMS2. SPECIFIC STRATEGIES FOR STUDENT AT SCHOOL AND HOME3. SUPPORTING LANGUAGE LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Early childhood settings that value language and literacy are noisy and active. Since language development is an interactive process in which children learn to talk by talking freely about their experiences, it stands to reason that a preschool setting promoting language development will be distinguished by the constant hum of children's conversations. A setting where children are expected to be relatively quiet and where adults do most of the talking not only inhibits language development but also deprives children of their basic need to communicate.
