History • The town was founded probably in the end of the 12th century. • The first written record comes from a document by Queen Guta of Habsburg and dates back to August 1, 1293. • (The town of Guta is in Czech called Jitšino město)
Albrecht of Wallenstein • The most famous period of Jičín was between 1620 – 1634. • At that time Jičín became a residence of Duke Albrecht of Wallenstein. • The duchy was a state within a state.
