Think-Ink-Pair-Share • Take a few minutes to come up with five examples of leadership that has left a meaningful legacy. • Next share your work with your partner. Listen to each other’s ideas (What is similar and what is different?). • Using what the both of you discussed, write a list of the three examples that had the most meaningful legacy and be able to explain why you chose those as the three best.
Leadership and Legacy in History • Your project must contain both elements of the theme. • The leadership does not have to leave a positive legacy in history. • This project is not meant to be a biography, the most important part of the project is to focus on the legacy. • The project does not have to be about one leader, you can choose to complete your project on various leaders who left the same legacy.
Queen Elizabeth I The legacy left behind by the leader of a country. Queen Elizabeth I is widely considered England’s greatest monarch. You could discuss how her leadership impacted England.
NAACP The legacy left behind by a group. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People led the fight for civil rights and is a major reason the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed.
Steve Jobs The legacy left behind by the leader of a company. Steve Jobs founded a company that changed the way Americans compute, listen to music, communicate with each other and on and on.
John Locke The legacy left behind by a philosopher. John Locke was a thinker who pioneered such ideas as Natural Law, freedom of religion and freedom of thought.
