2015 Topic Leadership and Legacy • What are some characteristics of a leader? • What kinds of people make the best leaders? • Who do you think are some important leaders from American history?
Primary vs. Secondary Sources • What do you think a primary source is? • Written in the time period • Letters, speeches, diaries, newspaper articles from the time, documents, photographs, artifacts, etc… • What do you think a secondary source is? • By an author who was not an eyewitness or a participant in the historical event. • History books, biographies, newspaper retrospectives, encyclopedias, interpretations found on the Internet, etc…
Topic • Topic should be important • Significant in the relation to the theme • Think about how it developed/changed over time • How did it influence/change history? • How did the events and the atmosphere (social, economic, political, and cultural aspects) of your topic’s time period influence your topic in history.

Project Proposal Sheet • Due 9/15 • Must complete proposed topic • How does your topic relate to the theme? • At least 2 sources • Project Type • List group members
Annotated Bibliography Sheet • Due 10/16 • Must have at least 3 Primary Sources and 3 Secondary sources • For the math impaired- that’s at least 6 total sources • MUST follow MLA format • There is a link on my website where you can find how to put sources in MLA • There are also sites like citation machine that will put sources in the correct format • Must answer questions for each citation
Process Paper Sheet • Due 11/19 • This basically explains the process in which you did your project. • Must answer all question in complete sentences. • Maximum of 500 words
Final Project Due • 12/5 • Must include all components • Project, Title Page, Process paper (except for students doing the paper project type, and Annotated Bibliography
