.The objective of the Survey 1.to assess the export promotion capacity of selected BDC staff 2. to find skill gaps3. to strengthen areas where weaknesses or gaps are identified
DUTIES/PORTFOLIOS- officers of the organisation, including three (3) Senior Officers and a Manager. - At least 80% has Bachelor's Degree- 2 persons with Master's Degrees - 2 others pursuing MBA Degrees - one person pursuing a Doctorate. Who were surveyed?
Other duties: Systems Implementation; Trade Certification and Sector Development. Provide Advisory Services to 2 - 5 persons / wk
Persons were also asked to rate their skill levels in areas which were critical to their job functions
Supply Chain Management= 80%while 60% – 70% listed those below: Low Skill Level Rating
Medium Skill Level Rating When an assessment of skill is at the medium level, some level of training may be required however, not to the same extent as when there is a low level of skill.
High Skill Level Rating Fifty (50) percent of those employees surveyed indicated that they rated their skill level high in Basic Marketing and Research Techniques.
Summary The areas where training is needed are clear based on the low skill level ratings in the several areas identified. The A-Z Consulting team will use this information as a key input in the design and delivery of appropriate training to BDC staff members.
Preferred Methods of Training Seventy per cent (70%) of respondents gave a rating of 4 and 5 to Workshops/Seminars as their preferred methods of training. Fifty per cent (50%) of respondents gave a rating of 4 to 5 to self-guided study and classroom instruction The conclusion is that Workshops/Seminars are the preferred methods of training followed by classroom instruction and self-guided study.
