  1. LESSONS FROM JAMES: THE SIN OF PARTIALITY James 2:1-13

  2. PLACING OURSELVES AS JUDGES • A position we are not to have – Matt. 7:1-5 • That is left to God • We are also woefully unqualified to judge in such a manner – 1 Sam. 16:6-7 • Whereas God has all the facts, and no preconceived ideas • Thus He is perfect in this capacity – Rom. 2:9-11

  3. DESPISING THOSE WHOM GOD HONORS • Namely, as James pointed out, the poor or poorly dressed • Yet the majority of those who responded to the gospel were not well-to-do – 1 Cor. 1:26-29 • And, beyond this, partiality for ANY reason excludes those whom God loves – Acts 10:34-35 • Will you say that those God deems worthy are not so?

  4. BREAKING THE FUNDAMENTAL LAW • Jesus spoke plainly of the “royal law” – Matt. 22:35-40 • Is not this transgressed when partiality is shown? • Paul also wrote of its importance – Rom. 13:8-10 • By breaking one, we are guilty of all!

  5. CONCLUSION Opinions are natural for us to have. Yet a great danger lies in letting them go so far as to govern our actions towards others. Regardless of the clothes one wears, or where they come from, or whatever, we owe them the same love & encouragement that we do to all men.
