  3. Introduction • Requirement for Multi TDL Management • Out of Area • Currently Link 11 & Link 16 • Growth potential for new links • Category D project - £7M budget • Initial Operating Capability in service by December 2004

Progress • Name has changed! • Experience from OP TELIC/OIF reinforces case for MTMS. • Joint requirements capture with the JAPNMS Replacement programme • Stakeholder community established during URD review process • User Requirement Document Version 1 released • Planning for Risk Reduction Phase underway.

Pre Main Gate Activities • Develop System Requirement Document (SRD) • Refine TJF SRD for JAPNMS(R) - L16 only • Develop multi-link requirement for MTMS • Undertake Risk Reduction activities • Inform and validate URD & SRD • Explore risk areas • Data forwarding • Voice comms • Develop documentation for Main Gate Submission • TULIP • Procurement Strategy, Business Case, Safety, Security, Logistics, etc. • Through Life Management Plan

Risk Reduction Activities • Air C2 Operational Evaluation Unit providing lead • Equipment • In-service equipment & test tools • IJSS - benchmark current US capability • Use equipment post MG (e.g. JCIET) • Lessons learned will be applicable to the MTMS solution. • Basis for interim capability if required.

  9. Post Main Gate Activities • Acquire equipment • Advance the remaining Lines of Development • Concepts & doctrine • Manpower • Training • Force Structures • Sustainment • Essential to provision of military capability • Use of JCIET04 to assess this development.

JICO Support System • Case for UK collaboration in JSS • Requirement for US interoperability • Economies of scale • Requirements • Releasability of JSS ORD • UK has the JSS TRD • Map requirements from the JSS TRD to the MTMS URD • Information Exchange • Information Exchange Agreement being staffed • JSS MOA is the next step.
