SWEDEN • Key projects in 2009 • Title: Projektet Rörelseorganens Årtionde.Key message: To improve the situation of those who have or are at risk of illness or injury in motor symptoms by increasing knowledge and awareness of the aliments that affect bones, joints and muscles. • Action SummaryArticals and meetings about “The importance to take care for your posture” supplemen- ted with the card ”Stand tall through-out your life” has successfully continued. • A booklet about osteoarthritis, where you can read in an easy way about the illness. The message is “Training 30 minutes a day is desirable, but even 5 minutes makes it useful and can be the difference between living an active life or sitting in a chair.” 16 000 booklets have been distributed in a year. • Lectures for the public on “How to manage chronic pain e.g. Fibromyalgia and Osteoporosis. • ImpactThe project as provided opportunities for interactivity and cooperation and increased knowledge between stakeholders and professionals. • Future DevelopmentAt the Annual meeting in February 2009, the Sweden NAN decided to continue its work after the conclusion of this decade. BJD GLOBAL NETWORK CONFERENCE October 23 – 24, 2009, WASHINGTON DC, USA Key patients group activities and outcome A two-day education seminar for occupational therapists to learn “How to treat patients with chronic pain.” The purpose was to deal knowledge and show how to implement the treatment. The 30 participants gave high marks at the valuation. Two more seminars wi9ll be taken place in Autumn 2009. An 1,5 day education seminar for school nurse and teacher in sports to learn how to enable children and youth with rheumatic diseases to participate in gymnastics and sports activities. The purpose was that the participants would transmit the knowledge to their colleagues. The seminar was organized in cooperation with the pediatric rheuma team at the University hospital in Umeå. The participants have decided to meet next year for dealing each others experiences. Key interactions with ISC, other NANs, regional groups, governments Interaction with stakeholders is an important essence of NAN Sweden and coopertaion in already established network has increased e.g. Swedish Reuma Forum, National Society Osteoporoti, The Swedish Association of Occupational therapists, Swedish Orthopedic Association and The Swedish Rheumatism Association. Key development plan for 2010The project, which has been ongoing since May 2006 was finished June 2009. and was sent to The Swedish Inheritance Fund June 24th (which has financed the project). However The Swedish NAN will continue its mission according to the BJD. Activities will continue in the fields of information, education and lobbying.
