Discussion • The Density of a sample of wood increases with age (Lim 2003) • Thermal Conductivity has been related to the moisture content of wood, as well as other factors through this equation (Gu 2007) • Heat Capacity has also been related to moisture content using this equation (Gu 2007) • Discussion • The HeatConduction model successfully created graphs that followed the laws of heat transfer based on the materials involved • The DE optimization also found values that were within the physical range of the system which can be used to find other characteristic of the optimal sample of Rubberwood • Conclusion • The optimal age to dry a piece of Rubberwood is at its oldest age because there is a positive correlation between age and density of wood • Based on the equations above the optimal moisture content at which to dry Rubber wood is 30% - 50% • Future Studies • This model can be used with any type of wood but in the future it could be outfitted to work with other materials as well such as metals, ceramics etc. • In the future this model could take into account the convection in the system as well as the conduction • Bibliography • Awadalla, H.S.
