Designate a day Pick one day in the week, or once a month as the day you devote a few minutes or an hour to prepare for one piece of your career or college timeline. Edit a resume; add a name or two to your list of references; scan media for upcoming events or ‘must dos’, write a prospecting letter, research a university or two.
Checklist for career related goals. Choose one appropriate action and write it next to your job goal along with a target date. • Track career trends in your area. • Scout out job fairs as an opportunity to talk with employers. • LinkedIn for professional networking. • Have copies of a current resume and template for a cover letter. • Keep an accurate list of references. • Consider transportation logistics. • Write prospecting letters to employers that interest you.
If it’s college you are focused on: • Now do the same for college related goal. Select one activity for fall or spring and choose a target date for completion.
