Maple Syrup Industry • New Hampshire is the leading producer of maple syrup in the United States. • Close to 90,000 gallons of maple syrup is made in NH every year. • It takes about 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup. • What is sap? • Sugaring time is only 4-6 weeks long. • Mid-February through mid-April
Lumber Industry • Almost 85% of New Hampshire’s land is covered with trees. • Over 16,000 people in NH work for the lumber industry. • These people are called loggers. • Loggers can work by cutting down trees and transporting them or they can work in sawmills.
