Incorporating DMS Data into PORTAL • DMS = Dynamic Message Sign • DMS display travel time, accident information, amber alerts • Approximately 17 DMS in the Portland Metro area, about 70 state-wide • DMS data • DMS data provided by ODOT • Approx 30,000 messages from Feb 2004 through December 2006 (~1000 messages/month) • Why? • Try to verify travel time messages on VMS signs • Investigate the association between VMS messages and traffic delays
