Introduction to NIPSEF Objective: • Delivery of the National Infrastructure Plan • Through dialogue with Government & Industry NIPSEF forum • Comprises of Approximately 60 key decision makers/CEOs • Co-Chair – Government: Danny Alexander MP • Co- Chair – Industry; Dr Nelson Ogunshakin OBE Representatives from: • Infrastructure asset owners, asset managers and regulators • Infrastructure investment and advisory community • Infrastructure delivery supply chain • Business end users of infrastructure

  4. Financing vs Funding – which is it? • Financing is not the big issue, money is available • Uncertainty over future funding is key challenge • Investors need a secure and sufficient Return on Investment • Must improve at managing the risk

  5. Role played by NIPSEF so far • Annually revised NIPs – because the situation changes • Refocus into business prospectus • NIP Finance Update, HMT/UKTI Infrastructure Pitchbook • Longer-term, six year funding streams for HA, TfL, etc.

  6. The need for cross party support • Smoother parliamentary passage • Faster Returns on Investment …will provide confidence and certainty

  7. The need for further devolution • Better integration of different infrastructures • More local knowledge around needs of population, economy, etc. • Leading by example • Improved governance
