  2. Reason for alternative words When writing an essay, it is often easy to fall into using the trap of using same words for common phrases all the time • e.g. “The aim of this essay is to… The aim of this essay is also to……. The final aim of this essay is to…….”

  3. Reason for alternative words This is considered bad form. It is necessary to use a variety of words to demonstrate your English ability. Remember, no matter how much you like eating in a restaurant, would you be happy to eat the same meal every day?
