“THE FIRST QUESTIONS CHURCH LEADERS ASK REFLECT THE ULTIMATE SUCCESS OF A BUILDING PROJECT”
THE WRONG QUESTIONS • Couldn’t we do something that doesn’t cost so much? • Will that mean we have to accept changes we don’t won’t to make? • Is that consistent with our traditions? • What does the congregation expect us to do? • What did we do last time?
THE WRONG QUESTIONS • What are other churches doing? • Wouldn’t it be easier to do it another way? • Can we do this with the money we have? • What does the pastor want? • Wouldn’t it be nice to have this?
WRONG QUESTIONS FOCUS ON… • CHURCH TRADITIONS • HUMAN POTENTIAL • POPULAR MOTIVES • UNHEALTHY COMPETITION • PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE • VISUAL APPEARANCES
THE RIGHT QUESTIONS • Will this contribute toward our church’s stated purpose and mission? • How will it expand our ability to reach new groups of people? • How will this strengthen our ability to minister to people? • How will this enhance our ministries to families with young children…senior adults…youth…single adults, etc?
THE RIGHT QUESTIONS • How will the first-time guest respond to this? • How will this enhance our teaching ministry? • Will this really challenge the commitment level of our people? • Are we trying to do yesterday over again, only better? • Which changes should come first, and which ones should come later?
THE RIGHT QUESTIONS • How will the leaders in the year 2025 evaluate our response to this issue? • Is this the right way to allocate our resources so they reflect our priorities and strategies? • Is this the right amount to spend considering the ministry and outreach benefit projected? • How will this glorify God?
RIGHT QUESTIONS REFLECT… • THE PURPOSE OF CHURCH • REACHING, MINISTERING, TEACHING • BOLD, GODLY GOAL SETTING • PRACTICAL ORGANIZATION • VISIONARY PLANNING • HONORING GOD INTENTIONALLY
