  5. Mission Statement Inspiring students to pursue advanced technology in the aerospace field through the application of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

  6. Club Purpose • Provide team project experience in extracurricular setting • Develop heightened interest in aerospace engineering among other collegiate, primary, and secondary students • Support development of advanced aerospace projects • Increase collaboration among Arkansas Universities

  7. Club Activities • NASA Robotics Mining Competition • Weekly Club Meetings • Assist Engineering Club and University Admissions • Develop testing platforms for future projects • Rocket Competition • BalloonSat Testbed

Rocket Competition • Purpose • Incorporate data acquisition systems into a tangible, aerospace experiment available to several age levels • Project Overview: • Build and launch reusable model rocket • Support Engineering Payload developed by EAC • Requires Engineering Process • Design • Documentation • Demonstration • Analysis • Open to area highschools and universities • Launch Day: Friday, April 25, 2014

Rocket Competition • Electrical Systems: • Payload System • Xbee Transceiver • Microcontroller (MSP430) • Altimeter • Launch Control Module • Act as Mission Control • Wirelessly initiate launch • Establish payload communication • Display payload data in real-time • Display post flight analysis

  10. Rocket Competition • Mechanical Systems: • Launch Pad Systems • Launch Pad • Electrical Housing • Wireless launch ignition • Launch Control Module • Contains all necessary components needed for data acquisition and launch initiation • Rocket • Design vehicle for competition

BalloonSat • Purpose • Develop a reliable system that is able to directly transfer to small satellites • Diverse testing platform • Determine and purchase necessary materials • Fundamental test platform for Satellites • Design satellite ready system • Incorporate educational outreach • First launch scheduled for Fall 2014
