  1. Length Scales of Heterogeneity CIDER participant in 2004 Jasper Konter University of Texas, El Paso

  2. Geochemical mantle zoo Can we tie this to structure, how about length scales?

  3. Projects of a working group Working group: Akber-Knutson, Hart, J. Kellogg, L. Kellogg, Konter, Moore, Romanowicz

  4. Correlation with Seismic Models • Scale problem for correlation with • S-models, attenuation • Perhaps Dupal Results: AGU poster (Moore et al, 04) Started on paper

  5. Side effect: Compositions on a map Similar technique, but wrt center. Suggests characteristic compositions have persisted at ~10 degrees distance Konter et al., 2008, EPSL

  6. Observations, suggestions, & ideas • Lectures informative to all levels • Computing issues seemed main issue with “labs” • Move to longer research time more effective? • 2 weeks about minimum to get things going • Length scales still open question -- continuation of projects? • Post-CIDER meetings: conference calls, Skype/iChat, actual working group meetings • Someone in charge of keeping things going • If going away from KITP, pick a site near existing facilities?
