What is Track Changes? • Track Changes is a Microsoft Word tool used for tracking editorial changes in a document Benefits: • Easy to use! • Visually displays suggested changes
After today’s session you will be able to: • Find Track Changes on your tool bar and turn it on and off • Insert and delete text and comments • Accept and reject changes • Describe 1 important benefit and 2 points to keep in mind
Hands-on Exercise • In groups of 2 or 3, choose one person to open their e-mail called “Track Changes Exercise” and open the attached letter • Save the letter to your desk top! • Find the obvious spelling errors (hint: two per paragraph) and make changes using Track Changes. • Using your handout as a reference, explore accepting and rejecting changes and making comments.
An important point to keep in mind: • Be careful not to confuse each other with which version of the document you should be working on. Communicating with your group and labeling each revision is very important!
