European Semiconductor Cluster Consortium Partnership Members
6 European clusters with thematic focus on micro- and nanoelectronicsare joining forces to form the transnational “European Semiconductor Cluster Consortium” (ESCC). Vision: “Secure and expand Europe’s position as the world’s leading center for energy efficient micro- and nanoelectronics and information and communications technology (ICT)”. The ESCC partnership will offer -at large scale- innovative solutions to better address societal challenges, such as global warming and resource efficiency. European Semiconductor Cluster Consortium Thematic Focus
European-wide networking activities of the clusters and their respective members • Strengthening the European Semiconductor Industry • Mapping the respective strengths and challenges of the European Semiconductor Clusters • New investment and research programs on pan-European and global level • Opening up new markets and boosting competitiveness of SMEs. • Networking activities and joint strategies towards new markets outside Europe • Exchange of best practice and information • Communication and dissemination activities in order to raise the awareness of the importance of the European semiconductor industry to the wider public, authorities at national, European and international level. European Semiconductor Cluster Consortium Planned Activities
The partnership addresses the value chain of the whole European semiconductor eco-system thus target countries and potential cooperation partners can be all members of the European Semiconductor Cluster Forum. • Additionally, key international target markets include: • USA • Taiwan • Korea • Japan • China. • Israel European Semiconductor Cluster Consortium Target Countries
ESCC will make a substantial contribution to the EU’s growth strategy for the coming decade, “Europe 2020”, and will also contribute to a number of flagship initiatives, such as “A Digital Agenda for Europe” and “A Resource Efficient Europe”. More specifically, the ESCC will focus on the following key results: Promotion of micro- and nanoelectronics as Key Enabling Technology for the traditional industry, unlocking new solutions for the major societal challenge on energy efficiency. Securing European know-how for Europe: Using inter-cluster synergies and complementarities and exchanging best practice (3) Opening up new markets and boosting competitiveness especially of SMEs. By joining technological expertise and resources of Europe’s leading players in micro and nanoelectronics, the ESCC partnership will create a new quality of transnational collaboration, enabling Europe to become the world’s leading centre for energy efficient electronics.
