Sources of Unrest /The July Revolution • Ultraroyalists vs Liberals • Ultraroyalists included many high clergy émigré nobles who had returned to france in the years after revolution. • Liberals include the middle class. • When Louis died in 1824, his younger brother, Charles X, inherited and on July 1830 he suspended the legislature, limited the right to vote, and restricted the press. • Liberals/radicals rioted and the Charles X ran away to England • With the king gone radicals wanted to set up a republic but moderate liberals instituted on constitutional monarchy. • Louis phillippe, cousin of Charles X was chosen by the chambers of deputies andin his youth had supported the revolution of 1789.
