Third Person • The story is told by a narrator (who is not a character in the story) • He - She - They - The boy - The girl • Example: Stanley had no trouble falling asleep, but morning came much too quickly. Every muscle and joint in his body ached as he tried to get out of bed. He hated the sun. Holes
Second Person • The narrator (or a character in the story) speaks directly to the reader. • You • Example: And have I not told you that what you mistake for madness is but over-acuteness of the sense?—now, I say, there came to my ears a low, dull quick sound, such as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. First Person • The story is told by one of the characters. • I - We - My - Mine • Example: I reclaimed my backpack from Grover and looked inside. The master bolt was still there. Such a small thing to almost cause World War III.Percy Jackson & the Olympians
Some examples… The dragon sprang skyward, vast wings unfolding. Seth raised an arm to shield his eyes from the brief windstorm. Once aloft, the dragon passed swiftly out of view, heading back toward the larger meadow. Fablehaven
