Indian Music • The Indian word for music is “sangita”. • The three main ways people hear music is very similar to America: on the radio, at the movies, and going to concerts. • One of the most common Indian instruments is the Sitar. Other Indian instruments are the Sarod (plucked), Tabla (two drums) Veena, Santoor. • Indian music has many different genres including popular, classical, and folk. The easiest to find in the West is the Hindustani (North Indian) classical music.
